The monarch butterfly has always amazed me. Delicate, yet incredibly resilient, it travels thousands of miles during its migration, proving that even the smallest creatures can accomplish extraordinary things.

When I painted Majestic Monarch in 2011, I wanted to capture more than just a butterfly. I wanted to celebrate its incredible detail, vibrant color, and the energy of nature up close. By filling the canvas with bold texture and expressive brushstrokes, the butterfly becomes larger than life, inviting you to appreciate the beauty that often goes unnoticed.

More than a decade later, this painting remains one of my favorite wildlife pieces. It reminds me that some of nature's greatest masterpieces don't roar or tower above us, they simply spread their wings.
