On the Roebling Bridge 30" x 40" acrylic on canvas by Jeff Johns

I never get tired of painting the Roebling Bridge. Every time I paint it, I see something different: the towers, the cables, the blue steel, the brick, the shadows, the river, and the way Cincinnati and Covington seem to speak to each other across it.

On the Roebling Bridge captures the view from the Cincinnati side, looking toward Covington after a Reds game. It has that familiar feeling of walking back across the bridge with the crowd, the city still buzzing behind you, the river below, and Kentucky waiting ahead. I wanted this painting to feel alive. The bold blue sky, the moving clouds, the people on the walkway, the car heading into the bridge, and the long stretch of road all pull you into the scene. It is not just a painting of a landmark. It is a painting of a moment. For me, the Roebling Bridge is more than architecture. It is history, connection, memory, and home. I have crossed it countless times, admired it from every angle, and painted it again and again because it still finds new ways to inspire me.

This piece is about that feeling after the game, when the energy of Cincinnati follows you across the river and the bridge becomes part of the story.
